This year, this Christmas season, I want something more. Not more presents for myself. Not more events to attend. Not more shopping and spending too much money. Not more rich tantalizing food.
I want more of what Christmas really is and not what we have made it.
And I wonder how it can happen in my life.
If Jesus came to be with His created, how can I make room for Him in my every day? How can I be still in the rush and frenzy of the holidays. How can I reflect the reason for this season to family, neighbor, friend? How can I give of myself so that it makes a difference to someone else?
That is what I hope to explore in the coming days of December.
C. S. Lewis said, “A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.”
No matter what Christmas has become, it does not change the fact of why it came and and from Whom it came. God will be glorified in the birth of His Son whether we acknowledge it or not. God does not need us to make Him bigger or more glorious. He is all of that. His name is “I AM that I AM.” He is totally complete. He requires nothing else.
The question is what am I going to do with this thing called Christmas? Will I continue as in years past? Or will I make a choice to celebrate with a worshiper’s heart?
“He will be God whether we make room or not, but how much we will miss if we do not allow full space in our hearts.” –Kelly Minter
I don’t want to miss Him!
Let every heart prepare Him room. And let heaven and nature sing.
I want something more this year . . .
Peggy, this blog is so good, I want to use it all in my “good thoughts”, but I hope you won’t mind my using a couple. Thanks for all the encouragement and knowledge you provide. Merry Christmas!
Share away, Sharon. I am glad if you can use any of the words the Lord has given to me. They are not mine. They are His.
