31 Days in October

I have accepted a challenge to write for 31 days in October on a subject of my choosing.  This will be interesting since I’ve not written on my blog at all since May of this year.  There are seasons in my life that demand more of my attention.  Perhaps this is the season for my blog.

I’ve chosen the topic of Roses Among The Thorns.

Not wanting to be negative yet facing the fact that in this world we shall have tribulations, I want to know how to look for the roses along the path.  That will be my quest during this 31 days of writing.

My first thought is the encouragement I receive from Jesus’ very own words about tribulations:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

So let us take heart!  The Overcomer is with us on the journey.  He is the Rose among the thorns.  And when we look for Him, we will find Him!

I hope you will join me on my October journey, that together we will discover roses in all shades and descriptions.

Won’t you come along?  I’d enjoy the company.

      • Not yet, Peggy, but I may start. I work 5 days a week at a Pregnancy Resource Center – have been working there for 8 years. It consumes much of my time, and very rewarding. The Lord and I have saved the lives of many babies, plus led girls to receive Christ as their Savior. Years ago I wrote a little book titled “In His Hand.” You can check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/His-Hand-Shirley-Barker/dp/140106213X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1412301619&sr=1-1&keywords=In+His+Hand+by+Shirley+Barker#reader_B007V3CNEU I still write from time to time and post it on Facebook, but I admitt that I am a little rusty! I have 4 children and 12 grandchildren, and most of my passion over the last 10 years has been praying for them, plus seeing souls won to Christ! I know that the gift for writing is still in me, and that is the reason I like to read your blog. You do inspire the thoughts and feelings in me that have always triggered my writing. Thank you for being faithful with your writing, I will be commenting as we go through your 31 days together. Bless you, Peggy, you and your whole household! Sister Love in Christ, Shirley Barker

      • I have put your book on my “to be purchased from Amazon.com” list. Looking forward to getting it here and reading it. I’ve thought of writing a book but then wonder, “who in the world would want to buy it or read it?” As the Lord leads, I will follow.

      • My friends and family have enjoyed my book (they think I need to write more). I did publish it myself because it is hard to find a publisher for an unknown author. I would love, at some point, to make single books with beautiful illustrations out of the children’s stories.
Peggy, you are a gifted and talented writer. I will be praying for the Lord to open doors that no man can shut as you share wonderful thoughts and feelings of the heart in writing to a world who desperately needs to hear.

  1. I will be praying for the words God will give you as you minister to others on your journey. I love you, dear friend!
